About Me:

I am an Expressionist Game Designer pursuing my Masters in Computer Science at the University of Southern California. I am interested in systems driven storytelling and emotional "bleed" between player and character.

A first person shooter based on the Colombian Palace of Justice Siege. I am working on a team with 14 other people on Nicolas Gomez's MFA thesis project. Designing scenes, characters, and dialogue with moral stakes. Also helping design the AI, dialogue, and bark system.

One Teddy Lost

2020-2021 Unity

My senior project, a 3D puzzle game I worked on with a team of 10 other people over two semesters. I was the lead game designer on the project. I implemented features including AI behavior trees, player health, and a rainy window. I contributed to level and puzzle design. I created two "narrative toys" one using Tracery and one using a LLM that only respond with human authored text.

So Spoke the Leviathan

A web based 2D puzzle-platformer adventure game I made for my GDD325 class with a team of 3 other people. I implemented features including branching dialogue and a perlin-noise based underwater shader. It won best visuals for a 2D game at the Stout Game Expo.

The Last Cookie Stand

A web based 2D real time strategy game inspired by Plants vs Zombies. I made it for my GDD325 class with a team of 3 other people over the course of three weeks. Implemented and designed multiple player and enemy controlled units.

An Android-based Bullet-Hell/Roguelike I worked on as part of my GDD 200 class with a team of 3 other people. Designed around one touch mobile play and control. Implemented and designed multiple enemy behvaiors and power ups. It won best mobile game at the Stout Game Expo.

Gladiator

2017 Zero Engine (C++)

Gladiator (2017): A top-down wave-based action game I made as part of a 3 person team for Digipen's month-long “Project Fun” k12 summer program. The game included ten different bosses with unique attack patterns, mechanics and soundtracks that I composed. It also included other enemies and multiple classes with different styles of play.

A Strategy Game inspired by Signs of the Sojourner and Rock Paper Scissors. Abstract and unique gameplay from a simple ruleset. Wrote a short narrative inspired by the greek myth Orpheus and Eurydice.

Bound To The Beat

A Rhythm Game inspired by Dance Dance Revolution. Music songs are combined together to create new challenges.

Last Legend

LowRezJam 2020

An Action RPG inspired by the Legend of Zelda. Implemented behavior tree based AI that communicates and chases the player to their last scene location. Wrote a dark fantasy narrative with multiple paths and endings.

A Turn Based RPG about delivering mail. Mail is procedurally generated using Tracery and stored in an SQL database.

A purposely bad Clicker Game and Skinner Box. Includes mechanics designed to make the playing experience as boring and frustrating as possible.

Thomas Teaches Touch Typing

GMTK 2019

Design, Engineering, Narrative

A Typing Game where you only type 1 letter. It was the 10th most reviewed game of the 2600 entrants and (briefly) the top typing game on Itch.io. It received positive feedback from streamers including Extra Credits.

Enchant My Sword

Stout IGDA 2019

A romantic Bullet Hell Game. It includes multiple endings and adaptive difficulty. It won the award for “Best use of Theme”.

Breathless

A turn-based Puzzle Game where you explore a dungeon using wind powers to push enemies.
